The HM Lord-Lieutenant of Somerset message to all re The Coronation.

A MESSAGE TO ALL TOWNS, PARISHES AND COMMUNITY GROUPS ACROSS SOMERSET

Dear Town/Parish Clerks and Community Group Leaders,

May has finally arrived and with it, some welcome warmer weather.

It is now less than one week to the Coronation of King Charles III and Queen Camilla.  I anticipate, in common with other towns, villages and community groups across Somerset,  you or members of your community will be busy making final preparations for your own events; providing an opportunity for all members of your community to come together, to mark this historic occasion.

It is said  ‘a picture is worth a thousand words’ so it would be wonderful if together we can create a visual archive of community celebrations so that future generations can have a sense of how Somerset marked the Coronation.   I would be very pleased indeed if your community would be part of this project.

Whatever events you are holding over the Coronation weekend, please take two/three photographs and email them to:  julia.knight@somerset.gov.uk, for inclusion in the Somerset Coronation Archive.   The email should be titled ‘Coronation Photographs – (town/village/group name). (Please note images may be used in social media.)

Whilst writing, may I also draw your attention to a national interactive map which pinpoints Coronation events the length and breadth of the country (https://coronation.gov.uk/events).  You may wish to add your event if you have not already done so.

With my warmest wishes to you and your community for your forthcoming celebrations,

Mohammed Saddiq

HM Lord-Lieutenant of Somerset.
