15th April – Lockdown Library Service. Somerset Libraries are continuing to support people with their vibrant online offer during these challenging times of self-isolation. Although library buildings are closed, there are thousands of free books, audiobooks and even magazines available to download at www.somersetreads.co.uk. You can even find simple step-by-guides to get you started.

2nd May – Age UK has issued a leaflet on services during the COVID-19 outbreak, including a new “friendly phone call service” where anyone feeling low or lonely can give them a call. For full details, click here.

29th May – Somerset Waste Partnership’s Chard facility will be returning to standard opening hours from Monday 1st June.

SWP will also be ending the odds and even number plate access system for all sites from Monday.

SWP is continuing its plea for people to only come if it is really necessary, and to expect long queues as the number of unloading bays has been reduced to allow social distancing.

29th May – SCC released a statistical update relating to COVID-19 in the County. For details, click here.

5th June – SCC has announced that health and care organisations have joined together to remind people to observe social distancing, because the “R value” in the south-west has increased to 1.0. For further information, click here.
