Best Ever Charity Book Sale!

Hits: 1726

Sunday March 9th and the warmest day of the year so far brought out the best support ever in the four years that the Charity Book sale has been running. Generous donations of good quality books meant lots of fresh choice once again, with happy buyers carrying away their prizes, in re-used carrier bags of course!

Despite most books costing a mere fifty pence, or possibly because of that, the takings were the best ever. That has allowed two cheques to be written to the chosen charities, Coeliac UK, and Prostate Cancer, each for another £70. Well done all supporters, both buyers and donors. Thanks also to all helpers.

The next sale is already booked for Sunday May 4th, 2 - 4pm, at the village hall as usual.

There has recently been a reports in the Parish of a dog attack on sheep.

It is against the law to allow a dog to be dangerously out of control - for Government guidance on control of dogs click here.

Your dog is considered dangerously out of control if it:

  • makes someone worried that it might injure them

A court could also decide that your dog is dangerously out of control if:

  • it injures someone’s animal

  • the owner of the animal thinks they could be injured if they tried to stop your dog attacking their animal.

Note that a farmer is allowed to kill a dog if it is worrying their livestock.

A convicted persopn is liable to imprisonment and /or a fine of up to £5,000.

If you are a dog owner, please keep your dog or dogs under control at all times.

Alzheimer's Memory Walk

Hits: 3731

My daughter Selina and I completed our Memory Walk on Sunday September 29th starting and ending at Vivary Park in Taunton. We even received a medal at the end but, whilst this was much appreciated, we don’t feel we ‘earned’ a medal by merely walking.

I should like to thank everyone who sponsored me and I am pleased to say that we were able, between us, to send £218.00 to the Alzheimer’s Society. Thank you very much for your support.

Pamela Hodge
