MINUTES of the COMBE ST.NICHOLAS PARISH COUNCIL MEETING

Held on Monday 25th July 2016, at 7. 30pm in the Village Hall

 

PRESENT; Mr. Rob Grimmond, Mrs. Lynn Osborne, Mrs.Rosemary Yarrow, Messrs. Tony Cole, Don Macdonald, Tony Sauer, Ian Stonex and John White

Also Nigel Pearson (County Councillor), Martin Wale (District Councillor), and Mrs.Anne Hunt (Clerk)

26/16 Mr.Tony Cole was welcomed to the meeting as a new Councillor. Acceptance of Office and Declaration of Interest forms completed.

 

27/16 MINUTES

 

Minutes of the Parish Council meeting held on 27th June 2016 were approved as a true record and signed.

 

28/16 DISTRICT/COUNTY COUNCILLORS REPORT

 

District Councillor –

 

a) – No progress on the Chard Regeneration Scheme development in the centre of town. The contract runs out in April 2017.

 

b) The District Council involved in the S.W.Devolution bid to get monies and powers to the S.W. The bid is going in From Devon and Somerset combined to set up another tier of authority. 13 District Councils would have to sit on it, plus others such as County, etc.

 

c) Lots of money held from 106 agreements, but if not used it has to go back. Martin Wale will contact Combe Football club in this connection.

 

County Councillor – There is a possibility that Chard football club could buy a field on the Forton Road as part of the Chard Regeneration scheme. A query was raised regarding the future of the 99 bus to Taunton. Stagecoach will have to advise of any change. The road at Buckland St.Mary will be closed and the bus re-routed via the A.358. The strength of mobile phone signal at the bottom of Combe Hill and surrounds will be investigated.

 

29/16 PLANNING -

 

30/16 DEFIBRILLATOR

 

The new casing is due to be connected on 21st July to the outside wall of the School. A training session will be arranged for September so that those residents who contributed, and interested, can be informed how to use the equipment.

 

31/16 HIGHWAYS

 

a) Some vehicles are parking in the Village Centre dangerously, or causing problems with visibility. The P.S.C.Os. to be asked to take notice when they are travelling through the area.

 

b) A water leak has occurred in New Road, and there will be limited access during repairs

 

c) Thanks extended to Mr.Davis for repairing the seat on Foxdon Hill.

 

 

32/16 FOOTBALL CLUB AT SLADES CROSS

 

Combe Football Club recently held an Open meeting to inform local people of their intentions following a recent A.G.M. There will be a new structure to the Club and future plans include mixing more with the general Parish, and giving more information locally re fixtures, events, etc.

 

33/16 CORRESPONDENCE

 

a) Information regarding safety with Wildfire risks to Forestry were given.

36/16 GENERAL MATTERS -

 

Buckland St.Mary Parish Council have given information about a First Aid Course being held on 10th August. Places still available at The Eagle Tavern. Poster to be put up.
